Cathy Finnis

Lay member for public and patient involvement

Cathy has always been passionate about health matters and started her career as a medical doctor, working both in Nottingham and East Kent hospitals. Due to developing a long term condition, Cathy became increasingly interested in matters affecting patients- and how to get their views represented.

Cathy undertook a masters degree in Health Services Research at the University of Kent, gaining a distinction for her research into younger adults healthcare experiences- and awarding her a PhD scholarship.

Cathy is also a Director of the Centre of Independent Living, has previously volunteered for Kent Local Health Watch, and worked as a Lay Member on the development of a new NICE Guideline.

Cathy is joining the CCG at an exciting, if challenging, time. Cathy feels passionately that patients and he public’s views are central to healthcare decision making and planning.  Cathy will be working to try to increase the patient and public voice base and ensure our views are heard.

In her spare time, Cathy enjoys needlecraft and swimming.
