Addaction's Mind and Body is a programme which helps young people explore and better manage the thoughts and actions associated with self-harm.
Addaction recruit Young Ambassadors through the programme and hold meetings every school holiday at which young people decide on an agenda, discuss topics and feedback to the Mind and Body team about resources and apps that are used within the group sessions. The young people have recently rewritten session content and all new resources are discussed and approved by them.
The Young Ambassadors took part in focus groups to help guide the Samaritans campaign on self-harm - informing a national campaign of the best ways to approach this sensitive issue.
Young Ambassadors are an integral part of the interviewing process for staff. They form a panel of interviewers, writing their own questions and scoring the candidates on their answers. They also score the candidates on the practical activity that they bring for interview.
